10/11/2011 - Ford Falcon, Why choose Emer Svi ?

During idle conditions, Ford use an unusual strategy to prevent stalling and improve idle quality called “extra injection”. This strategy opens the petrol injector for a very short period of time between normal injection pulses. This extra injection occurs when idle loads such as power steering or air conditioning clutch engagement occur. This very small pulse of the petrol injector provides the engine with a small amount of petrol to deliver a good combustion at low engine speed therefore preventing stalling and improving idle quality.

Typically the normal opening period of the petrol injector is 3ms (0.003 seconds). During “extra injection” the petrol injector will open for 1ms (1 millisecond = 0.001 seconds).

When choosing an LPG Sequential Vapour Injection System for your Ford Falcon, we recommend that you choose a system that uses a fast LPG injector that can keep up with the petrol injector speed. A lot of vapour injection systems on the market use LPG injectors that can not open and then close fast enough to provide an extra injection pulse (0.001 seconds). The result can be rough idle and/or stalling of the engine during idle.

The Emer Sequential Vapour Injection System uses the Emer injector that is fast enough to deliver the same small quantity of fuel that is delivered by the petrol injector. The speed of the Emer injector is improved by the design of the light weight internal disc. As the disc is lighter than most other LPG injector pistons, the injector opens and closes faster as the piston is not weighed down by excess material. The result is a smoother and more consistent idle especially when extra injection strategy is being used.

This is one of the reasons that we use the Emer SVI system!
